The Linen Guild fundraiser
Congratulations to TY students Robyn Gough, Emma Clifton & Mia Bishti who helped raise €7,049.00 last week for The Linen Guild.
Having struggled to get TY social awareness placements due to Covid-19, the girls decided to embark on a social awareness project of their own which would double up as a charity fundraiser.
The girls decided to ask Mount Anville Montessori Junior School - of which they are all past pupils - to help them as the 'community' aspect of the project and their chosen charity was The Linen Guild which - attached to the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin - helps mothers and babies in need.
The girls met with board members of the charity, presented ideas to MAMJS Principal Ms Kavanagh and linked in with MAMJS PCC. After a number of discussions the final idea was to host a MAMJS Family Quiz Night on Kahoot!. In addition they would get buy in from the MAMJS pupils by asking them to set the questions for the night and raise awareness with parents via a 'bucket' collection each morning in the car park with a 'Guess the number of balls in the Cage' challenge.
The girls made a number of presentations, hosted a virtual assembly, designed posters and t-shirts, emails and reminder notices, gathered the questions, were out every morning for a week with their lead up challenge and hosted the prize giving assembly(s) in advance of and after the quiz.
The whole project was a huge success. 174 families took part in the Quiz night which was absolutely amazing and everyone had great fun.
Not only that but the 'guess' challenge generated €907 and the quiz night an unbelievable €6,142. A total tally of €7,049.00.
Huge congratulations to Robyn, Emma & Mia for their initiative and dedication. A fantastic achievement for a very worthy cause.
