Ski Trip Diary Part 1 2018

Ski Trip Diary Part 1 2018
Ski Trip Diary Part 1 2018

It was 23rd of March, an overcast dull miserable Friday...for most. But Friday the 23rd was a much anticipated day but not for the Blackrock Belvedere senior cup final, it was the day us 5th year had been waiting for since the first week back in August.
Although the time Ms McCarthy set was one o’clock to meet at the airport, Sophie Drum and I somehow managed to swagger in at 1:20 footloose and fancy free as the other 58 girls wearing charcoal fleeces looked on. Although we looked more like a ski team than a ski trip in our fleeces we couldn’t help but be upstaged by the other group and their daffodil yellow caps.
Although their caps were great our excitement was greater.
We arrived to Milan the great fashion city of Europe. We were greeted by a large coach and a small 16 seated bus. I had the pleasure of traveling in the latter of the two, with 13 of the most patriotic girls in 5th year as a tricolour worn, Óró se do Bheatha Bhaile and Amhrán na bhFiann were proudly sung. The 4 hour bus journey was full of anecdotes and songs from the Kooks.
We were warmly welcomed by the staff of Hotel Olympic Regina Pinzolo in the early hours of Saturday morning. The Swiss Chalet style building has comfortable rooms with everything a girl could want vanity, mini fridges
Bidets and great showers.
Saturday morning was an early start, we were up had breakfast, fitted with boots, skis and helmets and our next stop was the piste.
Although I myself am not new to the adventure sport of skiing, one third of us didn’t know the difference between a green slope and a black slope. Within minutes of clicking their boots into their skis there had been 3 car pileup.
The morning was full to the brim with fun. My group led by instructor Nubis had great fun soaring down slopes on lovely fluffy soft powder. Our carving was so amazing you could have hired us to cut your Christmas turkey. Although we went fast some of us had the chance to race on a skidoo so fast Freddy Mercury would have to relinquish his title as Mr. Fahrenheit.

Shattered from the days skiing we found refuge as we listen to the passion of Christ in Italian in a most ornate beautiful chapel. Dinner was delicious I even had two helpings of lasagne. But nothing was more entertaining than watching Mr Mannion slurp a Creme Brûlée in one foul swoop. It was then an early night for us without forgetting to hydrate and foam roll to prepare for the next day.
