SPHE TY Class
On Wednesday January 20th all TY students took part in a cookery Session that was led by Mount Anville past pupil, Nicola Halloran. The session of course took part on teams but I really enjoyed listening to how she became interested in cooking and seeing her make recipes, that are simple and nutritional for everyone.
During the call you could follow along with her cooking or simply watch and learn and take tips from what she was doing in her meals.
Nicola made three different foods while we were on the call a breakfast, baked oats with berries and lemon zest, a snack, her Wonky energy balls, and a dinner, a Wonky chicken curry. Nicola also included how to make a vegetable curry for those who do not include meat in their everyday diet. I found that it was beneficial to watch and took notes so I can use some of her tips as well when I’m cooking. I often buy vegetable curries from the store because I don’t own a recipe book that has one without meat, so I will definitely try Nicola’s recipe.
I learnt many new things in the course such as you can use a grater as a zester. One thing that struck me by surprise is that Nicola said that ‘there isn’t such thing as a failed meal as long as its edible, someone out there will like it you just need to find what tastes good for you’ this struck me by surprised because sometimes if the food I cooked doesn’t taste good to me, I often give up on trying to make it.
I look forward to trying out her recipes and taking her advice for other meals, snacks and treats I make.
