St Mac Dara's Community School 1-3 -- 2-4 Mount Anville Secondary School

Mount Anville claimed a historic win on the opening day of the GAA u/16 season with a scintillating performance on a glorious October morning. Nicole Territt heroically captained the side on their first run out of the season, and the side showed no signs of rust from the summer layoff with a blitzkrieg of action in the first half, sprinting out to a 1-2 lead in the first 15minutes. Alex Bedford showed her usual eye for goal with her trusty right foot slotting home the majority of MTA's points throughout the match, ably aided by Ella D'Arcy with kicks from the free-kick mark.

An injury to the defensive lynchpin Carrie McGrath towards the dying moments of the first half led to a reshuffle at the back however, allowing MacDara's back into the game, but Mount Anville were professional in seeing out the first half leading 2-2 to 1-1. A dogged game of chess ensued in the second half as both teams worked to cancel each other out, but Mount Anville showed immense resilience in weathering Mac Dara's siege. The final whistle brought scenes of jubilation from all around, as Mount Anville stormed to the top of their group D table.

Their next fixture is against Ardgillan Community College, Balbriggan on October 19th.

On Friday the 10th of September, five prefects joined Ms. Caffrey and Ms. Kelly to help the non-profit organisation “Bugs Bees and Native Trees” plant 12 native and common trees on our school grounds.
