Christmas Shoebox Appeal in aid of Team Hope

Throughout the years, Mount Anville Secondary School have participated in various charity initiatives to help improve the lives of people less fortunate. This year, it was decided that our school community would take part in the ‘TEAM HOPE Christmas Shoebox Appeal’. This charity initiative was led by First Year students and their Year Head, Ms Fitzgerald. Team Hope is an Irish, Christian, child-focused international development organisation. Founded in 2010, they work in Africa and Eastern Europe to help children affected by poverty, world hunger and discrimination.

The Christmas Shoebox appeal encourages communities, businesses and schools to join together at Christmas time to send as many shoeboxes full of presents to children affected by poverty. The Shoeboxes are aimed at boys and girls between the ages of 2 & 14. This year the Shoeboxes from Ireland are heading to Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.

Sometimes we get very caught up in our own lives and forget about people less fortunate than ourselves. Receiving an education is something we take for granted and a privilege which lots of children in other parts of the world don’t have.

Thank you to everyone in our Sacred Heart school community who participated and donated a shoebox. We hope the children receiving these will experience joy and hope and for many a life-changing experience.
